I spent a couple of months in Texas one summer, but didn't have a whole lot of time to chase pictures. When I did, the heat was usually intense and most animals had more sense than I did and stayed home. But just before I left, a friend's son brought me this miniscule Mediterranean Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus) he'd caught, probably about 4 cm (1 1/2 inches) long.
I snagged a branch from a bush just outside the door and made this 'set', then spent a lot of time trying to get the gecko to pose long enough to focus. It worked, eventually, allowing me to get several usable frames before I set him loose again.
