Playing around

That's what Photoshop is for, right?

I made numerous attempts to emulate using a colored filter on B&W film when starting from this color image (that appears elsewhere on the site, too). Nothing was bringing the desired level of contrast between the leaf and the rock ledge, both possessing a pretty wide gamut of light levels.

So I fell back onto an old trick, one of 'selective colorization' (which is stating it backwards, since the process involves starting from a color image and choosing what remains in color). On a whim, I carried the effect down onto the trickle of water running from the tip of the leaf, as well.

And accidentally produced an entirely different idea from the shot. Now, it appears that the leaf color is draining off of the tip, giving an impression that the leaf is artificially colored. I never would have thought of that on my own.
