What can you do?

Ah, sunsets, waterfalls, and lighthouses! They're photographed to death, but how can you resist them?

Well, I try to do something a little bit different, when I can. I'm not sure what part I was after initially, putting the lighthouse among the tall grasses, or getting the moon into the shot. Doesn't matter, really. But I'm pleased with what I got, especially the range of light that needed to be captured. Fading sunlight on the side, deep tones in the sky, the beacon alight at the top, and above it all, a moon distinct enough to show its phase.

The moon is slightly over-exposed, getting a little smudged by the flare. I could have gone for a little earlier when the light was higher, thus going for a shorter exposure and bringing out the moon sharper, but two things would likely have resulted. One, the sunlight would have been high enough to wash out the beacon. diminishing the effect. And two, I probably wouldn't have gotten the stripes fading into indistinct black, an effect I'm partial to.

So, could it have been better? Maybe, maybe not. But I like what I got.
