Back to my B&W tests. This Great Blue Heron wasn't really concerned with me at all -- it was far more intent on the nearby surf fisherman, or more specifically on his bucket of bait. In Florida, this means an easy meal if you're sneaky. A lot of fisherman aren't too fond of the many bird species that like fish, since the birds have developed some decent talent at theft in this state.
While exposure may seem a tad dark, to me, it expresses the conditions of the day better, since the heron was backlit to a degree (sun fairly high, but this was facing due East in the morning). And I like the stark contrast against the sunlit waves. Does it sound like I'm justifying a bad exposure? I'm not -- there were enough of them on the same roll.
